Today on our program, No Loan Zone host, Janet Maltbie is on location with Josh Clemence at Boxcast, the best and easiest way to live stream events.

Josh is a professional videographer and video content specialist at Boxcast. He is also co-owner of clevelandvideocompany.com. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Mount Union.

In this podcast Josh recounts his time at Mount Union. After scholarships and grants, Josh took out $100,000 in student loans and 8 years later is still paying $1,000 per month for his college.

Josh’s key takeaways:

  • “Paying off student loans is like paying alimony to a spouse you never married.”
  • “Have a good idea of what you want to do first, or take some time to explore that before you start spending the money on college.”
  • “If you are going to go to a four year college be super involved, because if you’re not, then you’re throwing away your money.”
  • “I started a business. I met my business partner there and made great memories. But at the same time, somebody else could spend $100,000 and just go through classes and just do what they’re told and get absolutely nothing out of it.”
  • “So if you’re gonna do it, it’s still up to you to make it a great experience.”
  • “The onus is still on you to kind of take initiative and find what you love and do all the extra steps. $100,000 isn’t going to do that for you.”
