Janet Chavez Maltbie, MA., PC.

Janet is a professional career counselor in the state of Ohio with over 20 years experience helping students and people in transition make wise career choices. Her work has involved helping women re-enter the job force as a career counselor through the Commission for Women in Maryland and most recently, guiding students in the career and college planning process as an academic counselor at Lorain County Community College.  After 13 years at LCCC, Janet transitioned to an adjunct faculty position, exclusively teaching a Career Exploration and Life Planning class, meeting with clients individually and pursuing her work as the producer and host of RadioWannabe.com

Her passion is helping students and adults complete a degree, pursue passionate work and debt free living. 


Janet completed her Bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communications and Master’s degree in Educational Counseling Psychology through the University of Pacific in Stockton California. In 2008 she obtained her counseling licensure by completing advanced course work through Cleveland State University. In 2012 she was an Innovative Learning Grant recipient and completed the “Young Me, Now Me, Future Me” digital storytelling project which enabled students to tell their life story: This is who I am, this is who I am becoming and this is who I hope to be. As a result, she was awarded the 2013 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award for her SDEV 103 Career Exploration and Life Planning course project and her work as an Academic Counselor at Lorain County Community College. Janet is an active member of Providence church in Avon, Ohio.

In her spare time, Janet plays golf and has competed in the Ohio Senior Women’s Open hosted by the Women’s Ohio State Golf Association. She also enjoys reading, playing the piano and all things techy. Her great joy is sitting in her back porch with her husband, two children, daughter in-law and grandchildren.
